Hourglass-Economic-AbuseThe Economic Abuse of Older People: Coerced Debt and LPAs

Thursday 27th March from 10am

For older victims and victim-survivors, economic abuse is the most prevalent form of abuse reported to Hourglass, totalling 30% of all cases over the last three years. Over the last three years, economic abuse cases received by the Hourglass 24/7 helpline showed financial losses by older victim-survivors across the UK totalling over 53 million pounds.

The economic abuse of older people is a significant issue, with the misuse of Powers of Attorney (POA) and coerced debt being common and incredibly damaging forms often seen committed against older people.

In this webinar, we'll be speaking to leading figures from the charity sector, financial sector and more on the nature and prevalance of economic abuse, how we can prevent economic abuse and what legislative changes are needed to protect older people.
